XX and XY gonadal dysgenesis (not to be confused with Turner's syndrome) may be sporadic or familial. Stature is normal, and phenotype is sexually infantile female in the XX form or may be ambiguous in the XY form.
Patients with an XY karyotype should undergo gonadectomy because of potential neoplastic degeneration of the dysgenetic testes.
